To feel a deep sense of connection and intimacy with life is at the core of people’s search for happiness.  People may not realise it and continue to search outside of themselves for achievements, money, status and relationships, but inevitably this will come up short.

Intimate relationships are one area where you see this played out in ways that when viewed from an awaken perspective seem quite insane.  We have all probably seen this in other people’s relationships or maybe even had the realisation about our own.  It is not possible to receive from another that sacred union with the divine that you are longing for.  We can however share together the beautiful expression of divine union that a healthy relationship is.

When we have suffered trauma in our lives it is usually relational in nature. These traumas can be experienced in early relationships with primary caregivers, siblings, teachers or classmates at school.  Of course, there are traumas that do not occur as a result of relationships such as accidents, but the type of trauma that sets us up for relational struggles in the future are relational in nature to begin with.

For spiritual emergence or awakening to stabilise deeply into an intimacy with all of life, these original relational traumas and attachment wounds may need to be healed within a safe relationship with a spiritual teacher, healer or therapist.  This will enable you to feel safe enough to let go into the vulnerability that such openness can bring forth.

There is no such thing as healing the heart in a disconnected vacuum.  Trusting, for people who have had this trust ruptured within relationship, can be challenging.  However, a deep shift and transformation into safety within relationships and safety within oneself can open the doorway to a life lived with deep and profound intimacy with each moment.
