He arrived earlier than expected…..3 nights before the Winter Solstice, the darkest day and longest night of the year.
Divine timing of welcoming the return of the light. The timing of his arrival was profound as it was one night before the Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere, on 20th June 2008 that my dear friend, horseman and mentor Gavin left this world under sudden and tragic circumstances.
This year has also been a ‘darkest day and longest night’ for me, with the loss of my beloved boy Rapt in Dreams (Duke), who crossed over 3 months before the Solstice and took a piece of my heart with him.
Whilst the new beautiful being’s arrival felt sudden and unexpected in many ways, his new name arrived in parts, slowly revealed to me.
This is exactly how the light is revealed to us, in sudden moments bursting through what may be the darkest times of our lives and then slowly in parts revealing more and more depth of the light of our being.
Koki (pronounced “Koh Kee”) is his new name, “Oki” for short and “Okio Tokyo” as a term of endearment. He has a striking Japanese energy in his look and demeanour to me.
The meaning of the name Koki is multiple depending on the Kanji characters used, it means ‘radiance, light, rare/shine, happiness, hope and fortune’. He indeed is the light and hope that arrived during the darkness night.
Oki means ‘open sea or ocean centred’.
When I look at him, I do not see other people’s projections of who he was or is, and I cast out my own projections that may arise from time to time. With clear eyes what I see is the boundless ocean of radiant light, that all life springs forth from.
The happiness, hope and fortune………well let’s see what the divine has planned for this gorgeous being and me.
Wherever we are in our lives whether in a darkest night or in a phase where life feels joyful and good, the hand of divine light is always there, reaching out to us in our everyday lives in the most mysterious of ways.
